DEKRA Scores Top Marks for Sustainability

Apr 08, 2026Sustainability
  • Platinum medal successfully defended with a new highest score
  • Continuous improvements in sustainability performance over many years
  • Systematic strategy through the “DEKRA Climate Impact Program”

DEKRA has once again achieved top marks in the EcoVadis rankings for 2026 and successfully defended its platinum medal. The company was awarded 93 out of a possible 100 points, putting it among the top 1 percent of all companies assessed worldwide. DEKRA has now been awarded the “Platinum” medal five times in a row. Its success is underpinned by a long-term sustainability strategy and progress across all aspects of ESG.

EcoVadis is an established international standard for assessing companies’ sustainability performance along global value chains. EcoVadis records and assesses a wide range of sustainability criteria in four core areas of ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance): environment; labor and human rights; ethics; and sustainable procurement.
The expert organization DEKRA has now been awarded the platinum medal for the fifth time, meaning it has maintained its position among the top 1 percent of companies assessed. The company’s score has continuously improved from 78 points in 2023, to 86 points in 2024, and now, in 2026, to 93 out of a possible 100 points. DEKRA achieved top marks of between 91 and 95 points in all four areas.
“The fact that we’ve once again won the highest award from EcoVadis confirms the quality of our sustainability management activities and shows that we’ve systematically integrated sustainability in our processes,” says Wolfgang Linsenmaier, member of the management board of DEKRA e.V and DEKRA SE and responsible for sustainability at DEKRA. “We’re purposefully driving forward innovations in order to continuously improve and enhance sustainable solutions and make a clear contribution to our ecological and social responsibility. The way we see it, this top ranking doesn’t mark the end of the journey, rather it provides important impetus for us to continue improving.”
Climate management is a cornerstone of the company’s approach. In the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) – which discloses the company’s own impact on the environment – DEKRA was already re-awarded a score of A- back in 2025 and, in turn, was ranked at “Leadership” level. The DEKRA Climate Impact Program lies at the heart of DEKRA’s climate management activities. It is based on two key pillars:
  1. Internal decarbonization based on the 1.5-degree target, including the introduction of an internal CO₂ price to steer business decisions.
  2. Support for external projects to mitigate and adapt to climate change to ensure the company lives up to its responsibility and moves away from a certificate-based system of offsetting emissions purely in accounting terms.
To this end, DEKRA maintains strategic partnerships with globally recognized organizations, providing support for their projects in order to make a positive contribution to efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change. One example of this is its partnership with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
The amount of money is based on the total amount of remaining emissions in the company, and is invested in targeted projects via a DEKRA climate fund. This means that DEKRA goes beyond merely offsetting emissions. Qualitative progress reports and quantitative metrics are used to continuously monitor how effective the projects are
Moreover, DEKRA is taking advantage of the practical opportunities to mitigate climate change across all areas of the company. For example, it is systematically driving forward the roll-out of photovoltatic systems across the globe, such as in the Jiading district of Shanghai, where a PV system of 2,629.63 kWp was installed in 2025. Another current example can be found at the DEKRA Group headquarters in Stuttgart, which is set to be heated by the waste heat from a neighboring data center in a gradual process starting in mid-2026. This will enable the company to gradually reduce the use of its own fossil fuel heating systems and further reduce CO₂ emissions. In addition, the electrification of the company car fleet is progressing steadily, with the proportion of electric and hybrid vehicles rising to over 50% for the first time in 2025.
